What Can You Show with Your Business Video?

What can you show with videoHere are a few ways that you can make your business more credible by using video.

- Review your own product or service. Don’t make them read about it!
- Show your product in action! If a picture is worth a thousand word, imagine what a video is worth!
- Tell your customers your story and connect with them! Tell them what you do, how you do it, and why!
- Provide product-related content. For example, how-to guides or tutorials for products that require training.
- Connect with your customers or staff. Internet video is a great way to communicate immediately, and to remote customers. Record a conference with a customer via Skype.
- Show your business in action. If you’re a web based or “virtual” business, a fear of your customers may be that there may be no one to contact. Show your business in action!
- Create a vlog, a video blog or a journal. Don’t feel like writing? Create a blog that is more conversational, sit in a café, a park or somewhere casual.
- Create a movie trailer for your new business! Show viewers that your business is exceptional – not just another business event.

Promoting Yourself with Video on Facebook

Facebook is a great way of communicating to potential customers without having your own website. Communicating with video on your own Page in Facebook is an even greater opportunity for you to connect with your audience.

There are three types of pages available:
- Official Pages: for local businesses, brands, products and organizations, artists, bands and public figures
- Community Pages: for your favorite cause or topic – adopted and maintained by the Facebook community
- Facebook Groups: for members who would like to communicated to others with a similar interest or hobby.

Creating a Facebook Page is easy. First, you must have an account with Facebook. Sign up at: www.facebook.com Once you have an account open, click on “Ads and Pages” which is in the left hand column of your Home Page, then “Create Page” which is at the top of the “Ads and Pages” page.

You can have your new Page display your favourite YouTube video so you can talk directly to your audience. To do this requires a minor bit of coding, but it’s very straightforward. Watch this video to see how to go about it,  and this link gives the code you need to install your video…

Apart from entertaining, informing and telling your customers how to contact you, you should get them to “Like” you. The Like Button lets viewers of your page share your page content with their friends on Facebook. This really is a great way to get your message across to potentially thousands of viewers quickly and for free!

Finally, if you have quite a few videos that you’d like to show on your website, there are plenty of applications that let you do this for free. If your videos are hosted on YouTube there are a few applications that talk between Facebook and Youtube. The app I use is called “YouTube Video Box”, it has a nicer layout than some of the others. Click “Edit Page” on the left hand column of your Page, then the “More Applications – Browse More” button at the bottom of the Edit Page. Then, type in “YouTube” in “Search Apps” finder. There’s plenty of layouts to choose from.

Pages are a relatively new feature in Facebook, and communicating through video on them is a powerful way of communicating to your audience. Pages are very easy to set up. I strongly suggest that if you don’t have your own website, you give this a try!
